A downloadable Music Player for Windows and Linux

Minimal Music Player is a small music player that allows listening to mp3 files.

The player has a compact minimal design so it is easy to use and will not require too much thought.

It features:

  • Keyboard shortcuts.  Space to play/pause   [ and ] to skip songs, N to pick a music library, ESC to quit.
  • Variety of built-in themes
  • Custom theme support
  • Automatically docks to the corner of the screen and hides when not in use. This feature is handy as you can just move your mouse to the side of the screen to see what song is playing or play/pause/skip/change volume.
  • Polished user interface. The interface elements have been designed to be snappy and responsive so it is easy and enjoyable to navigate.
  • New update includes shuffle.

To start, select a folder of music by pressing N, or the menu icon at the top right, and clicking "Change music folder". Once you select a folder your music should begin to play and you can enjoy your music.

Note: this music player does not yet work in conjunction with other apps like Spotify, but I would love to add support for it soon. So if that's what you are looking for, stay tuned and follow my twitter for updates @Brastin3_

If you find any bugs please report them in the comments ASAP, I will happily fix them

MMP 64 java included is not working on Win10 build 19041.450

White screen then nothing.

Thanks for letting me know, I'll look into it. Make sure all the files from the download are included with the program when you run it. (not saying you haven't, it's just to make sure that its not the issue)

oh also - does the screen flash white or stay white?
and does the blank screen fill the entire display or just the MMP window?

Here is a video explaining the issue.

I hope that you could fix it.Thanks

Windows specifications(It is a 64bits)

White screen crash

oh wow thats really detailed, thanks! I'll try and work out whats causing the issue ASAP

There's a new download listed as "MMP Windows 64 Debug.zip" and this version should work, and if it doesn't I've set it up to output two different crash logs. If it doesn't work, would you mind sending me the two crash log files? Another thing you could try is also deleting the preference file (data/preferences.txt). Once again thanks for the detailed feedback, and I'm sorry I can't immediately fix the issue because it runs normally on my machine.

Sadly, still not working(test with 2 different PC,same operating system WIN10 64 bits build 19041.450).Also tried to delete "preferences.txt"(not shown in the video, but still the same)

Thanks for your user assistance. No problem for the detailed feedback,it was my pleasure.I hope that the log files(rar compressed)  will help you fix the issue.

Additionnal Information:The app is not auto-closing but persistant in taskbar and taskmanager. The issue is that nothing appears expect the first splash white screen.

PC2 Log Files

That's so strange - the logs show everything is fine, but it looks like it should be crashing somewhere in the setup phase. The only other thing i can think of is that its not actually updating the files at all. Could you try deleting the log files and seeing if it replaces them? You could also potentially try the 32 bit version. Thanks for the help and I'm sorry its still not working for you.

Looks really clean! And it looks like made with processing? I'm also making a music player with processing, this looks much cleaner than mine :D

Yeah it is made with processing, and thank you! Good luck making yours!!! Something that I've been trying to do for ages but never been able to achieve is to directly open audio files in the player by double clicking them. Maybe u could try and do that? I love seeing people push the limits of processing.

Damn, Kalimba by Mr. Scruff just gave me iPod Shuffle flashbacks
